When it comes to your workspace the best practice for getting things accomplished is with organizing. Keeping your work area tidy may seem simple but how many times have you found yourself overwhelmed by clutter? Cleanliness = Productivity! Following the tips below will have you ticking things off your to-do list and feeling more organized in no time.
Get a trash can
As obvious as it may sound most people do not have trash cans in their home office or by their workspace. Head to HomeGoods or Target to pick up a minimal trash can that’s chic and blends in with your furniture. This will eliminate unnecessary papers or waste on your desk.
Keep your desktop clean
A cluttered desk is filled with distractions. Sticky-notes, business cards, file folders, and uncompleted projects all clamor for our attention every moment of the day. Before finishing up your work, tidy up lose ends and wipe down your desk of any spilled coffee. A good rule of thumb is to keep sanitizer wipes in a drawer at your desk for those unexpected mistakes.
Find a place for all your papers
An important part to your desk looking it’s best is by organizing loose papers. In the mist of different projects, there can be up to 10-15 loose papers scattered on your desk. This calls for shopping for new file folders. We recommend purchasing folders that are fun, inspiring and are cohesive with her workspace esthetic. Check out some we found here and here.
Organize our work files
Every week we like to declutter and reorganize our desktop files. Running a business can get crazy with non-stop emails and files sending back and forth. Labeling your files by categories and subcatergories (I.e photos, emails, contracts, invoices, inspiration) will make it much easier to find what you’re looking for in the future.
Put things back the way they belong
It’s very easy to get caught in the middle of an assignment and walk away leaving your desk a mess. Purchase organizers and designate a place for everything. Pencil/pen holders, fold cabinets, and mini dish trays for paperclips are a few simple items you can incorporate to have your workspace looking organized immediately.
